The Ram truck has been a staple of the American pickup truck zeitgeist since the first one was manufactured in 1981. A beast of a machine, the Ram has long been an icon of robustness and power.
The all-new 2023 Ram TRX promises to bring this heritage into the modern age with an updated look and feel, as well as some new tech features.
2023 Ram TRX Colors
The 2023 Ram TRX comes in a number of different colorways, including the basic Bright White Clearcoat and the Flame Red Clearcoat.
For an additional charge, you can also choose between a Diamond Black Crystal or Hydro Blue Pearlcoat, or a Billet Silver or Granite Crystal Clearcoat, giving you six different styles to choose from.
The basic colors, Bright White and Flame Red, also have a two-tone option with a black running stripe along the bottom of the chassis. The fixtures and fittings, including the grill, bumpers, running boards, vents, and mirrors, all come in traditional Ram matte black.
2023 Ram 1500 TRX specs
Now that you've got an idea of what colors you'll be able to deck your New 2023 Ram TRX, let's take a look at its technical specs
The engine
The Ram TRX only comes with one engine option, a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8, which is functionally identical to the one found in the Dodge Hellcat.
In the TRX, this big beast of an engine produces 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful gas pickup on the market.
Combined with four-wheel drive as standard and a paddle-shiftable eight-speed automatic transmission, you'll have enough grunt to pull 8,100 pounds and haul up to 1,310 pounds in the flatbed.
The fuel economy
The downside of this power, of course, is the EPA rated 10 mpg in the city and 14 mpg on the highway. But if you really need a powerful working truck that can still accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, then that might be a (literal) price you're willing to pay.
The storage space
In terms of sheer storage space, the TRX only comes with a crew cab and short bed options, giving you 53.9 cubic feet of flatbed and 45.2 inches of rear-seat space. This gives you plenty of room to store all your tools, equipment, and whatever else you may need while out on the job.
2023 Ram TRX Horsepower
As mentioned, under the hood of the Ram TRX, you'll find the same 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 found in the Hellcat. This produces 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque.
Some of that power is undercut by the sheer weight of the reinforced steel frame. However, Ram has also gone to great lengths to ensure that the TRX doesn't handle like a battleship.
In addition to the V8 and its attached paddle-shiftable eight-speed automatic transmission, the Ram TRX comes with a beefed-up suspension system that boasts more than 13 inches of travel and 35-inch all-terrain tires.
Combined, this gives you 11.8 eight inches of ground clearance, meaning the TRX can handle some of the rougher terrains you'd want to drive a pickup truck over.
Add in the fact that it comes with 15.0-inch front brakes, an electronic-locking rear differential, and Bilstein remote-reservoir dampers, and you've got a truck that can really make use of the power that V8 provides.
2023 Ram Trim Packages
Instead of trim levels, as you might see in a number of the TRXs competitors, the 2023 Ram TRX offers a range of packages that add different features and upgrades to the truck. To help you decide if any of these packages add value for you, we've broken down exactly what they contain.
While these packages can be mixed and matched, their individual elements can't. So you can have both the Advanced Safety Group and the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group, but you can't mix and match individual elements from each.
The Bed Utility Group
The first and most straightforward of the packages is the Bed Utility Group, which offers a number of pickup bed enhancements by Mopar. Included in the package are four adjustable cargo tie-down hooks, a deployable bed-step, and a spray-in bedliner.
If you're looking for an upgrade package that adds more functionality to a working truck, the Bed Utility Group is a great option. It gives your pickup the ability to haul larger, heavier items such as furniture or ATVs, and will also protect the bed of your truck from scratches and wear and tear.
The Advanced Safety Group
If your new Ram is going to be a family vehicle, then adding these safety features is an excellent way to ensure that everyone is safe and secure. The driver's assistance tech allows for a safer ride, no matter what the situation may be and helps reduce the risk of collision or injury in the event of an accident.
The TRX Carbon-Fiber Package
Adding in a little more design flair, the TRX Carbon-Fiber Package includes a leather and carbon flat-bottom steering wheel and real carbon fiber interior accents in satin black. This is a purely aesthetic upgrade, giving your new 2023 Ram TRX a sleeker and more eye-catching interior.
The TRX Level 1 Equipment Group
Containing a huge amount of additional upgrades, the TRX Level 1 Equipment Group makes some significant changes to the TRX both inside and out.
In the interior, the TRX Level 1 Equipment Group adds in luxury touches such as a front door trim panel, instrument-panel LED ambient-light piping, a heated steering wheel, 8-way power adjustable driver and passenger seats, a premium wrapped instrument-panel bezel, rear under-seat storage compartment, and a universal garage-door opener.
The changes carry over to the exterior, where the package adds in pick-up box lighting, front-door accent lighting, rear-door accent lighting, and rain-sensitive windshield wipers.
The vast majority of these upgrades are aesthetic, with a few comfort options, such as the 8-way power adjustable seats, so if you're looking to maximize your interior and exterior look while also increasing your ride comfort, this is the package for you.
The TRX Level 2 Equipment Group
Equivalent to a premium trim level on other trucks, the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group includes all the add-ons of TRX Level 1 Equipment Group and a host of additional features
These added features include a 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, blind-spot, and cross-path detection, a leather and suede flat-bottom steering wheel, Parksense front and rear park-assist with stop, rear 60/40 split folding/reclining seats, surround-view camera system, ventilated front and rear seats, and a handy trailer brake-controller.
This top-of-the-line package adds in a huge amount of both luxury touches and added functionality. It has all the aesthetic upgrades of the TRX Level 1 Equipment Group, but adds in a huge amount of additional comfort and safety features.
If you want a Ram TRX with all the bells and whistles, then this package is exactly what you're looking for!
