2026 Ram 2500
Frequently Asked Questions

The 2026 Ram 2500 is a significant investment, often costing more than a starter home. Naturally, Kingfisher buyers have questions before they sign on the dotted line. From engine differences to suspension geometry, our service department has compiled the honest answers you need to make the right decision.
What is the difference between the "Standard Output" and "High Output" Cummins?
This is the #1 confusion point.
● Standard Output (SO): 370 hp / 850 lb-ft torque. Uses the 68RFE transmission. This is the standard diesel engine for Ram 2500 models.
● High Output (HO): 430 hp / 1,075 lb-ft torque. Uses the Aisin AS69RC commercial transmission.
Key Note: In previous years, the HO was exclusive to the Ram 3500. For 2026, Ram has made the HO available on select 2500 configurations, giving you 3500-level pulling power in a single-rear-wheel truck.
Does the 2026 Ram 2500 still have "Death Wobble"?
No. "Death Wobble" was a vibration issue caused by loose steering linkage in older solid-axle trucks. The 2026 Ram 2500 features a fully redesigned, high-strength steel frame and upgraded steering geometry.
Additionally, Ram now installs a steering stabilizer from the factory to dampen any road feedback before it reaches the steering wheel.
How much DEF does the 2026 Ram 2500 use?
Expect to use roughly 1 gallon of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) for every 50-75 gallons of diesel fuel.
Towing Alert: Heavy towing (15,000+ lbs) increases engine heat and NOx production, which can double your DEF consumption. Always carry an extra jug when hauling cattle to OKC.
What is the fuel tank size on the 2026 Ram 2500?
It depends on the cab configuration:
● Crew Cab (Standard Bed): 31 Gallons
● Crew Cab (Long Bed): 50 Gallons (Largest in Class)
● Mega Cab: 33 Gallons
Can I plow snow with a 2026 Ram 2500?
Yes, but you must have the Snow Chief Group. This package includes:
● Higher amp alternator (220-amp) to power the plow hydraulics.
● Anti-spin rear differential.
● Clearance lamps.
● Auxiliary switches on the dash for plow controls.
Is the 6.4L Hemi V8 good enough for towing?
The 6.4L Hemi V8 (410 hp / 429 lb-ft) is excellent for payloads (hauling in the bed) because the engine is lighter than the Cummins. It is rated to tow up to 17,730 lbs.
Verdict: It is perfect for towing a bass boat or a camper a few times a year. However, if you tow heavy (>10,000 lbs) weekly, the Cummins diesel's torque will save you money on fuel and engine wear in the long run.
How long is the warranty on the Cummins diesel engine?
The Cummins engine comes with a 5-Year / 100,000-Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty. This covers the engine block, turbocharger, water pump, and fuel injectors. The rest of the truck (bumper-to-bumper) is covered for 3 Years / 36,000 Miles.
Does the 2026 Ram 2500 require a special license to drive?
Generally, no. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of a Ram 2500 is typically 10,000 lbs. This keeps it under the CDL requirement threshold for personal use. However, if you are using it for commercial commerce and your combined weight (Truck + Trailer) exceeds 26,001 lbs, a CDL may be required.
What is the "RamBox" system?
RamBox is a lockable, drainable storage system built into the sidewalls of the truck bed.
Kingfisher Use Case: It is perfect for storing muddy tow straps, jumper cables, or even ice and drinks for a tailgate. It includes a 115-volt power outlet inside the box.
Where is the DEF gauge located?
In the 2026 model, the DEF gauge is digital. It is located in the Driver Information Digital Cluster (the screen behind the steering wheel). It will alert you when the tank is below 30%, giving you roughly 200 miles to refill before the truck enters "limp mode."
